Case Study
Door and window section
As can be imagined with very high isolation floated studio boxes, floors and walls, the requirement to see between studios and pass in and out of the studios could present a weak point in the acoustic design. – The isolation capability of both must be as good as possible.
Between studios and as view panels from the outer areas very high isolation acoustic windows were required, these were designed and constructed by Studio Schemes, and they comprise variable weight glazing panes.
These panes are excited at different frequencies so whilst one pane will allow a frequency to pass, the next will block it and in this way the isolation can match the walls from either side of the construction.
The studio internal panes are angled down to direct acoustic reflections into the floor, the triple window sets also have air gaps between
Within the overall building space layout, it was required that the studios would be entered directly from the office areas outside. To control this, Studio Schemes designed and constructed 15 sets of very high performance double tandem opening door sets with magnetic seals that were also capable of being opened by motorised closers to comply with Disability requirements. The closers also interface with the magnetic locking security system, swipe card reader and central firm alarm system
The project was completed in just over four months and having been independently tested, fully passed all the technical acoustic specification required by the client.
The client installed the latest and best broadcast equipment and systems to fully utilise the capabilities of these award-winning constructions.
